THE TIME IS NOW FOR A CLEAN CAR STANDARD - TELL THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT TO STAND UP TO AUTOMAKERS

The auto industry wants to delay the transition to electric vehicles so they can keep profiting from pollution. Car companies have made public commitments to shift towards electric vehicles (EVs) but are lobbying the government to delay and weaken regulations that would hold them to their word.

Canada must be a climate leader - not a climate laggard. To reach our climate goals, the federal government must keep their promise to enforce the shift to 100% ZEV sales by 2035, through a regulation called a Clean Car Standard.

A Clean Car Standard will reduce carbon emissions by 135 million tonnes, reduce the price of an electric vehicle by 20% for the average Canadian consumer, and drive more investment in EV charging infrastructure.

We can’t trust the auto industry with the future of our climate because they will always put their bottom lines first - that’s why we need regulations. Tell the federal government that the future of the planet matters more than the profits of the auto industry.

Help us secure a Clean Car Standard to reduce emissions and make electric vehicles more affordable.

Your message will be sent to Minister of Environment and Climate Change, Steven Guilbeault; Minister of Transport, Omar Alghabra; and Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau.
