For decades, oil and gas companies have profited from harmful activities that fuel the climate crisis, and pollute land and water. These fossil fuels are the primary cause of climate disasters, like wildfires and floods, that are costing people their lives and homes across Canada and around the world. In fact, Big Oil is the biggest barrier to climate action in Canada. To be successful in meeting our climate goals, we must stop the ongoing harm to our climate and the communities most impacted by the sector, especially Indigenous and frontline communities.

This is a critical time for Canada’s climate future. The federal government has the power to put Canada on a path to a healthier, more resilient and more equitable future. But if the federal government continues to bend to the pressure of the oil and gas companies, Canada will remain one of the worst contributors to the global climate crisis. Canada cannot meet its climate commitments without cutting oil and gas pollution. We cannot afford more delays or weak rules that let oil and gas companies off the hook.

There are no two ways about it: the Canadian government has to stand up to the oil and gas industry, and support Canadians’ vision to cap and cut that industry’s emissions and end all fossil fuel subsidies, without exception.

Take action today and tell the federal government to put people in Canada ahead of the profits of oil and gas companies.
