NOW'S OUR CHANCE: DEMAND COMPREHENSIVE ACTION ON "FOREVER CHEMICALS"
PFAS — a.k.a. “forever chemicals” — are found in everything from our drinking water to our cookware to our cosmetics. This ongoing exposure means these chemicals are also accumulating in our bodies and the environment, posing significant health risks.
Canada's finalized "PFAS State of the Science" report confirms these risks, including higher rates of kidney disease and cancer. There is now a proposed approach to phasing out PFAS in products, but consultations are only set to begin in 2027.
Right now, we have the chance to advocate for faster regulations. People in Canada deserve better – we shouldn’t have to wait three years for the phaseouts to begin! Let’s demand comprehensive rules that protect us from PFAS exposure in products.
Under the Canadian Environmental Protection Act, our federal government has the responsibility to protect human and environmental health. Health Canada can hold companies accountable, regulate the use of PFAS in the marketplace, and stop these chemicals at their source.
Join us in calling on Canada's next federal government to address the sources of these contaminants by moving quickly to prohibit this class of persistent chemicals in products, with limited exemptions. We must hold importers, manufacturers and other PFAS polluters accountable for their harms to people and ecosystems, and make them liable for the cleanup and drinking water treatment costs.
Add your voice to urge all party leaders to utilize the legislative tools at their disposal for a comprehensive ban on PFAS.
Your message will be sent to the Leader of the Liberal Party, The Right Honourable Mark Carney; Leader of the Progressive Conservative Party, Hon. Pierre Poilievre; Leader of the New Democratic Party, Jagmeet Singh; Leader of the Green Party, Elizabeth May and Leader of the Bloc Québécois, Yves-François Blanchet.
