Halton Hills is the next municipality being subjected to a proposed new gas plant as part of the provincial government's stated intent to ramp up gas power generation in Ontario.
The new Halton Hills gas plant will increase greenhouse gas emissions when we need to be reducing them and investing in renewable energy sources like wind and solar in the face of the climate crisis. The plant will increase pollution and reduce air quality for Halton Hills and surrounding areas and cost Ontarians hundreds of millions of dollars only to shut down in 2035 due to incoming federal clean electricity regulations.
This irresponsible plan puts Ontario’s public and environment at risk. However, the project needs municipal support to move forward - your voice can make the difference. Council is expected to make a decision at the next council meeting on December 11th.
Join Environmental Defence , Halton Hills Climate Action group, Ontario Clean Air Alliance, Canadian Association of Physicians for the Environment (Ontario) and Ontario Climate Emergency Campaign to discuss the impacts the proposed new plant will have on Halton Hills and the surrounding communities, and what residents can do to help stop it.
Date: Monday November 27th

Southern Ontario has been identified as a target area for new gas projects and existing gas plants are prime candidates for expansions. Currently there is another gas plant proposal in Greater Napanee. Napanee residents are welcome at the town hall as the information and organizing efforts are applicable to your community.
