The provincial government has applied unfair new rules on clean energy - it’ll cost Albertans the most! 

Earlier this year, the Alberta government announced heavy restrictions that will stunt the growth of clean energy in the province, cost thousands of jobs and billions in investment, all while depriving Albertans of the right to choose what happens on their own land. 

Help save Alberta’s clean energy future! Tell the government you do not support restrictions on clean energy that create: 

1. Clean Energy ‘Off limit Zones:’ restrictions on where clean energy projects can be located will create 35 km no-go zones around protected areas that are heavily restrictive to new wind power, affecting 57 existing projects worth $11 billion to the Alberta economy, while allowing oil and gas development in those very same places.
2. Economic loss: During the 7-month moratorium Alberta lost over $30 billion dollars in investments and risked more than 24,000 construction jobs. Ongoing uncertainty could impact future investment and jobs. 
3. Affordability: Slowing the transition to clean energy will increase the costs of living for Albertans, as wind & solar energy are the least expensive sources of new electricity generation. 
4. Individual freedom: Farmers & homeowners who had the advantage of generating additional income from solar & wind power on their private property, now face obstacles. Meanwhile, oil and gas development is allowed,even if the landowner doesn’t want it. 

But it doesn’t have to be this way. Alberta could be a leader in the development of wind, solar, and geothermal power and we could do it while creating jobs and building prosperity for all Albertans in a climate-safe future.
