The Ontario Government is moving in the wrong direction on the energy transition.

Fossil gas, often referred to as “natural gas”, is a potent greenhouse gas (GHG) which contributes to climate change when it leaks from fracking operations - a process using tons of water and a mix of dangerous chemicals which can contaminate our drinking water as well as cause earthquakes.

While jurisdictions across Canada are moving away from gas and turning to renewable sources of energy to generate electricity, Ontario lags behind, keeping us reliant on toxic fossil fuels.

We don't need new fossil fuels to meet Ontario's energy needs. Renewables like wind and solar are now the cheapest form of new electricity generation and are cheaper for the end consumer.

If the province truly wanted to keep energy costs down, it would invest in renewable energy and make home retrofits more affordable.

Is Ontario going to sit out the energy transition and miss the opportunity to build a truly clean electricity grid and all the benefits that brings?

Tell Premier Doug Ford and Energy Minister Stephen Lecce to take our climate crisis seriously and build a clean electricity grid for Ontario!

Your letter will be sent to Premier Doug Ford, Provincial Energy Minister Stephen Lecce, and your Member of Provincial Parliament.
