We Need Stronger Protections From Toxic Chemicals
From the cosmetics and personal care products we put in our bodies, the food we eat, the furniture we sit on and the products we use to clean our homes, Canadians are exposed to many toxic chemicals on a daily basis.
For too long, harmful chemicals like BPA, flame retardants and phthalates have been allowed in consumer products despite growing scientific evidence showing their harmful effects on human health and the environment. Our main toxics law, the Canadian Environmental Protection Act 1999 (CEPA), hasn't been updated for two decades. In 2018, Canada committed to reforming the Act to better protect Canadians from toxics as early as 2020. Tell Canada that you want stronger protections from harmful chemicals today
