TELL THE PROVINCE TO REFUSE THE EXPANSION OF THE MEGA-INCINERATOR IN BRAMPTON
Emerald Energy from Waste, finally updated their 1400 page, jargon filled Environmental Screening Report on the toxic spewing incinerator in Brampton.
Despite Emerald’s greenwashing tactics to convince Peel residents that incineration is a waste management strategy, we know that burning garbage leads to more air pollution that can cause cancer, asthma and chronic lung disease.
The expansion of the incinerator was a bad idea a year ago, and still is today. The Province MUST step in to stop Brampton from becoming the garbage-burning capital of Ontario.
Incineration is not a solution for waste management. In order to justify the millions of dollars spent on the expansion, the incinerator will require a constant flow of waste to burn. Even if area residents and businesses reduce the amount of waste they generate, Emerald will just truck in waste from Toronto and other regions of southern Ontario to meet their capacity.
The deadline for public input ends on January 7th. Please urgently tell The Environment Minister that you DO NOT want more waste burning in Brampton.
Your letter will be sent to Emerald Energy from Waste, Ontario's Environment Minister Andrea Khanjin and Ontario's Acting Environment Minister Todd J. McCarthy.
