Stop the Conservation Land Sell Off!
Conservation areas protect more than places to walk and enjoy nature, they also safeguard the watersheds where 95 percent of Ontarians live, protect our drinking water and prevent flooding. Yet the Grand River Conservation Authority is planning to sell off several of the natural areas that it owns, many which have been protected for decades.
Selling conservation land for development is like the attack on the Greenbelt all over again. Southern Ontario has very little natural land left and the Grand River Conservation Authority owns less than 3% of the entire, rapidly developing, watershed.
Selling off irreplaceable public assets owned by the people of the Grand River Watershed is short-sighted and irresponsible and must be stopped.
Tell GRCA reps that it's their job to protect conservation areas, not sell them off!
Your letter will be sent to GRCA staff and members of the GRCA board.
