Alberta’s energy transition is both necessary and possible. What can Alberta learn from the world and the global energy transition? Explore Alberta’s path to a clean-energy future at this thought-leading gathering of policymakers, researchers, and local organizers. Hosted by Environmental Defence and featuring special guests from independent financial think tank, Carbon Tracker, Transition Talks offers insights and analysis on renewable energy challenges and opportunities, the fiscal risks of relying on carbon-based industries, and how Alberta can become a leader in the clean energy transition.

Who should attend: This event is ideal for policymakers, researchers, Edmonton residents interested in the energy transition, energy industry stakeholders, labour and environmental groups, and advocacy organizers looking to learn, exchange knowledge, strengthen networks, and take actionable steps toward Alberta’s clean energy future.

What to expect:

  • Morning (10am–12pm): Presentations and panels from Environmental Defence and Carbon Tracker, sharing research, global perspectives, and a roadmap for Alberta’s energy transition.
  • Networking Lunch (12–1pm): Enjoy lunch and a chance to connect with other attendees interested in Alberta’s clean energy future.
  • Afternoon (1–3pm): If you’re involved in local advocacy - or passionate about getting more involved - stay for an afternoon discussion workshop with organizers, activists, and community groups. Collaborate on ideas inspired by the morning sessions, share skills, connect with peers, and explore strategies for public engagement in an energy transition that leaves no one behind.
