The Piping Plover Needs Your Help!

Your letter will be sent to your local Member of Parliament and Minister of  the Environment, Climate Change and Nature Honourable Julie Dabrusin.

The Ontario government has recently removed 60% of the beaches in Wasaga Beach Provincial Park from the park. They have also removed the protection of all endangered species habitat from legislative protection under the Endangered Species Act.

Wasaga Beach is Ontario’s most critical nesting site for the endangered, migratory shorebird the Piping Plover. The federal Species at Risk Act requires the federal Minister of Environment and Climate Change and Nature to request an Emergency Order to protect the habitat of any species for which she is of the opinion that its survival or recovery is threatened. We need urgent action under the Federal Species at Risk Act to protect critical habitat at Wasaga Beach from destructive, mechanical beach raking planned for this spring by the Town of Wasaga Beach.

Send a letter to your local Member of Parliament and Minister of the Environment, Climate Change and Nature Honourable Julie Dabrusin asking for an Emergency Order to protect Piping Plover habitat at Wasaga Beach
