Help create a better future

Protect Nature. Don't Fast-Track Risky Projects.

Prime Minister Carney and the federal government have proposed sweeping changes that could dismantle decades of environmental protections and make it easier to fast-track pipelines and other major projects.

The government’s actions would put Canada’s environment, waters and rarest and most vulnerable species at risk. If the proposal moves forward, endangered species, like the Southern Resident Orca, could lose critical protections, putting them at greater risk of extinction. Cabinet would have broad powers to create “Federal Economic Zones” across Canada where projects could be pre-approved with no public oversight, leaving Canadians in the dark. Indigenous rights would be undermined. Communities could be left facing greater environmental risks, while taxpayers could end up paying the bill for costly environmental disasters caused by rushed decisions and weakened safeguards.

Canadians voted for a stronger future, not weaker environmental protections. There is still time to stop these dangerous rollbacks.

Canadians fought hard for environmental protections. They help ensure projects are properly assessed before they move forward, protect communities from harm, and safeguard the wildlife and ecosystems Canadians value. Weakening these laws won't build a stronger Canada. It will make it easier to push through risky projects while sidelining species protections, Indigenous rights and public input.while sidelining species protections, Indigenous rights and public input.

What we fight to protect today shapes how Canada will look for future generations. At a time of climate disasters, biodiversity collapse, and growing threats to Indigenous rights, Canada should be strengthening environmental protections, not dismantling them behind closed doors.

Building a strong Canada doesn’t include weakening environmental protections. That’s not nation-building. It’s nation-breaking.
