Ontario wants to give polluters a free pass. Tell Ottawa to step in!
Ontario’s incoming government has vowed to kill cap-and-trade, a program that makes polluters pay for their carbon pollution. This will take Ontario backwards, environmentally and economically, It will mean billions in sunk costs and legal battles, and an end to programs that help individuals and businesses shrink their carbon footprint while fixing their homes, buying a cleaner vehicle or making their businesses more efficient and competitive. And it will jeopardize Canada’s ability to meet its Paris climate targets.
Thankfully, the federal government has said that they will take climate action in provinces where the provincial governments choose to shirk their responsibility. They’ve said that if the province doesn’t put a price on carbon pollution, then Ottawa will.
If the Ontario government won’t do its part to fight climate change, then the federal government must step in.
Tell Ottawa you support them taking climate action by making Ontario's polluters pay for their carbon pollution.
