Tell Canada to ban Styrofoam packaging

Banning polystyrene (Styrofoam) is an obvious way to fight plastic pollution. It’s dirty, tough to recycle, and there are plenty of eco-friendly alternatives available. This is one kind of plastic packaging we can definitely live without.

In Canada, 80 per cent of Styrofoam waste ends up in landfills or the environment. That’s the equivalent of 208 Olympic-sized swimming pools of styro-garbage every year.

Like all plastics, Styrofoam doesn’t biodegrade. It just breaks down into small pieces which are nearly impossible to clean up, and are eaten by fish and wildlife. And to make matters worse, it’s made from fossil fuels and toxic chemicals – some of which have been linked to cancer.

Tell Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, and Minister Catherine McKenna that you want Canada to ban Styrofoam packaging.
