Burger King: Stop wrapping food in toxic PFAS chemicals

Recent testing found PFAS chemicals in the fry bags, burger boxes, paper wrapping and salad bowls at Burger King. This is concerning because PFAS chemicals are linked to cancer, liver damage, decreased fertility, asthma, and certain kinds of cardiovascular conditions.

Fast-food chains add PFAS to their packaging to make it grease-resistant. But the packaging is used once, and toxic PFAS chemicals last forever in the environment. Customers deserve to know that when they eat fast food, they’re not getting a side of toxic chemicals as well.

PFAS-free alternatives are readily available and major chains such as McDonald's, Wendy's Freshii, Chipotle, Panera Bread, Taco Bell and Whole Foods Market have already committed to moving away from PFAS in their packaging. Burger King has no excuse to lag behind.
