Stop the destructive Highway 413

The Ontario government is trying to fast-track approval for a new mega-highway, Highway 413, that would pave over important farmland, forests, rivers, and a section of the Greenbelt in the GTHA.

Back in 2018 this same project was cancelled by the province because it would cost billions of dollars and do massive environmental damage, while saving drivers just 30 seconds off their commute.

But now it’s back. And worse, the provincial government is proposing skipping major parts of the project’s Environmental Assessment, a legal process designed to make sure that new infrastructure works are safe and effective for our health and environment.

The consultation on this proposal is open until August 22nd. When you sign this petition we’ll submit your letter directly to the Environmental Registry of Ontario so you can tell the provincial government that Ontario doesn’t need a new mega-highway. Instead, we need better GO service, better cycling and transit, and more support for transportation options that will help Ontario fight climate change, protect green spaces and reduce air pollution.

Sign the petition to tell Ontario you don’t want the destructive Highway 413.

Your letter will go to: the Environmental Registry of Ontario consultation submissions; Caroline Mulroney, Ontario Minister ofTransportation; Jeff Yurek, Minister of Environment, Conservation and Parks; your local MPP.
