Citizen action has once again saved the ecologically-sensitive headwaters of Carruthers Creek in Pickering from the hands of developers.

But land speculators still want this land for sprawl. The attacks won’t stop coming until Carruthers Creek gets permanent protection.

Politicians - including the former Environment Minister, Rod Phillips, and all the main opposition party leaders - have repeatedly promised to add the Carruthers Creek headwaters to the Greenbelt, where they would forever be off-limits to developers. It’s time for the government to deliver on that promise.

The headwaters of Carruthers Creek are an essential part of the region’s ecosystem. The region saves the City of Ajax millions of dollars in flood prevention, provides habitats for rare native species, and is a natural defence against climate change.

Tell Minister Piccini that you want the Carruthers Creek headwaters added to the Greenbelt immediately.
