Dear Jim, Another egregious move from the Ontario government that we need to stop! Just over a year ago, we celebrated when, after a powerful outcry from the local community, the Ontario government designated the proposed dump in Dresden for a comprehensive environmental assessment. Now, through Bill 5, that promise has been broken. It’s shameful that our government has now approved the landfill’s reopening and expansion without a proper environmental assessment or community consent. Premier Ford’s actions reveal a clear pattern of pushing harmful developments over environmental protection, especially when the developer is a “friend”—York1 has donated over $200,000 to the PC party since 2018. The proposed landfill would sit just one kilometre from homes, and next to Molly’s Creek, which feeds into the Sydenham River—part of one of the most biodiverse watersheds in all of Canada, and home to at least 33 species-at-risk. It will also have a significant impact on the residents of the small farming community of Dresden. That's why we're organizing community resistance, calling for Bill 5 to be repealed and for the Dresden dump to be re-designated for a full environmental assessment. But we can’t do it without your help. Will you help us stop the Dresden Dump and defend Ontario’s environment?
