Tell the province to grow the Greenbelt to protect our vulnerable waters
Water is our most precious resource and needs permanent protection.
Rapid urbanization, rising populations, and development pressures within the Greater Golden Horseshoe are threatening the integrity of our waters.
Over 1.25 million people in the region rely on groundwater for their drinking needs. And, our lakes and wetlands are home to numerous at-risk species of fish and wildlife. We urgently need features like moraines, wetlands and headwaters that filter and store water protected from development.
Tell the government that their proposal to expand the Greenbelt to protect the region’s vulnerable water sources is a good first step, but doesn’t go far enough. We need the province to protect a “Bluebelt” of 1.5 million acres to ensure clean water supplies for future generations.
Take action now and tell the government to protect at-risk waters in the Greater Golden Horseshoe.
